I am off to Holland

I am off to Holland to visit this lovely two-years old girl, isn't she already very girly?

For her mother I knitted this cowl with Wollmeise yarn. I love the colors of the yarn, but I am not so fond of Wollmeise. The yarn is for me too smooth to the touch, not  'warm' to knit.

So there will be no blogposts next sunday and wednesday....

Union Station update

Some pictures of the Union Station progress.  I cannot finish the quilt because the blue/grey fabric that I ordered does not have the good color.
Next thursday I will be in Paris for some hours on my way to Holland so I will visit some quiltshops. If they don't have the good color I will try to find it in Holland.
I wanted to hang the pieces on the line but there was to much wind. To give you an impression of the finished quilt I layed them on the ground in the courtyard....

Rosa was curious!

And today I will sew all the 80 nine patch.....

I did not have a response from Tiny who was one of the winners of my giveaway, so I draw another name.
The winner of 5 Stitching line papieren is

QUILTING MIEKE .

Have a good sunday.

And the winners of the giveaway are........

Thank you all for your comments, you were 65 !! I was really surprised that  the Stitching lines are so unknown in Europe.
And another thank you for all your lovely comments about my shawl.
My 'notary' draw the following names:

The Stitching line bundles are for Carin and Wima Oud. The handknitted shawl is for Nelleke.
And because you were so many to comment I draw another two names:
Tiny and Conny will each receive 5 stitching line papers , so they can try them too. I will send you an email . Tiny is a no-reply blogger, I think she found me by the 'prikbord'. i will try to find her there.
The winners must answer me before next sunday.
I am so sorry that I cannot send you all a price. But if you are interested in the Stitching Lines you can order them here.

Besides working on my Union Station  quilt I also made a log cabin cushion with reproduction fabrics.
Maybe for the next market, maybe for me...

And my cat Bibiche loves the scrappy quilt I finished some weeks ago!

Birds, birds........ and more birds

With my creative club we will have another market in may for mother's day. I am already making things.
I found a cute crochet pattern for these birds, perfect for key rings. It's a free pattern.

On this blog I found the pattern of an owl cell phone cosy, so cute...

And thanks to the lovely Jill from Untie the ribbons, I could finish my owls. She bought for me the brown floral tape that I could not find here . It came all over from the U.S to France. Thanks a lot Jill!!!

They look much better now their feet are done, don't you think?
For the pattern of these owls I used two books: the Little Bird book and The artful bird. In both books are owl patterns, I made mine by combining the two patterns. If you like to make birds you could  go to the sites and look inside these books.

I was in the bird mood so I made a small one, here he is.... The pattern I found on the web...

GIVEAWAY...a package of stitching lines and a handknitted shawl

Two years ago I heard for the first time about Stitching Lines, it was on Sweet P Quilting and Creations's blog, she had a giveaway with the Stiching Lines. I did not win the package but I ordered one here.
When I used them i found it a perfect tool for machine piecing.

So when I started machine piecing my Union Station some weeks ago I used them to make perfect stars and hour- glass blocks. When I ordered some more packages I proposed  to Mary to do a giveaway on my blog because i am really very enthousiastic about this sewing tool.
What are Stitching Lines:
It's a paper stitching product that makes sewing your half-square triangles, flying geese squares and snowball corners fast, easy and accurate.
How does it work.
When you want to make hourglass blocks , cut the papers 1/4 inch shorter than the diagonal of your two squares. Place the paper with the dark line centered on the diagonal, like here.

You sew on the dotted line 1/4 inch from either side of the center line.

Tear away paper on both sides and paper in the middle and then cut your squares.
You repeat these steps to make your hourglass blocks.

On this video you can see how it works.

Mary from Marin & Colusa gave me two packages for this giveaway. So two of you could receive the Stitching Lines.

And because I have 200 followers now!! I also give away one of my handknitted shawls.

What do you need to do to win one of these three prices. It's very easy: you only need to leave a comment here, be sure that I can reach you. I will draw the winners next sunday. I will ship all over the world.
Good luck .
