The fabric I love and.......... Yoko Saito

I love all kinds of fabric, I love reproduction fabric like this one:

I also love fabric designed by Denyse Schmidt,  her small prints, her not-so-crying colors! The teals and grey's in her lines are so beautiful! I have several pieces of her different lines. I have some Aunt Edna

Some Hope Valley....... and some more. Here is the Denyse Schmidt site.

But I also love the Japanese woven fabric that Yoko Saito uses, the subtile colors, her beautiful patterns , so really ZEN.

Somemonths ago i bought this book:

Yesterday and today I made this small pouch, all made by hand (the pattern is in the book).

My first machine pieced quilt......

When I was in Holland some weeks ago i took a private class to learn cutting fabric and piecing it by my sewingmachine. I learned a lot of things. And  what was most important I lost my fear for starting a machine pieced quilt.
In Quiltmania number 46  I found this one, so gorgeous. And I bought months ago a lot of beautiful Japanese fabric on Etsy, also Japanese kimono silk here and here. For the small squares I used kimono silk fabric.
When I made this picture I only had 5 blocks, now there are 13 blocks ready.

And this is the picture in the Quiltmania, isn't it lovely?

It's my birthday and a new notebook cover

Today it's my birthday, I am 65 years old now....... No party today, but for tomorrow I invited the members of our gardenclub to go 'déjeuner' in a small rural 'auberge'. Only us four, only women!
And next sunday we go with our friend Lucy to a 'logis de France' restaurant for an excellent dinner, also at noon.
Yesterday night we had our new years eve meal; oliebollen (oil-dumplings) and appelflappen (apple fritters), made by Lucy.  In her family it was usual to eat these the night before your birthday....
Thank you lucy, they were delicious!!

This morning I received some beautiful English Emma Bridgewater mugs and bowls.

And here is my new notebook cover, appliqued with wool and cotton in the country style.

Do you want to swap fabric .......

Some weeks ago Renée started the blog 'wij ruilen lapjes' (we swap fabric) . We all have a lot of fabric and when we need more we buy it. So why not swap in stead of buying and buying and buying more.

Everybody has fabric that you do not need anymore or that you do not love anymore so why not swap this pieces for something you absolutely need......

I already did two swaps and i am very satisfied!

The blog is in Dutch but I think it's a good idea to go there and take a look. On the right   you'll see names on which you can click and then you are on the person's swappage.

Maybe you can yourself organize a swap blog in English?

This is my page on the blog, I want to swap some owl fabric.
