My trip to Italy....Orvieto and his history,

With Sue, Karen, Cathy and Sandy I went on sunday to the necropolis . The site dates from the 4th and 5th century. It is formed by tomb chambers constructed of blocks of tufa ( a variety of limestone). Each chamber is identified with the name carved above the entrance.

Wednesday afternoon we went to the pottery museum.....

To be continued....

  1. I'd love to go back to Ovieto. The duomo was/is special to me since I studied with the man who assisted in creating the door for this wonderful place. (in Perusia) I loved the frescos found inside so much that I came back to northern Italy to study fresco making with Alma Ortolan. I know you had a wonderful time..Love the photos of the cafe's and the pottery.

  4. I like the letters, carved in the limestone. They look like the scandinavian futhark or runen...
