Harvest , lots of plums

I have told you before that I am a member of an association for preserving old varieties of fruit trees.
There are 2 orchards, one for the apple and pear varieties and one for the cherries and plums. They are planning another one with chestnuts. All those varieties are from this region.
When there are a lot of fruits, you, as a member can come and pick them for 1 euro the kilo.
Last week I went, with my friend Lucy , to pick plums.

Together we had 25 kilo!

  1. OH those look so good! My grandma had a plum tree and she made the most delicious jam. What a wonderful thing you are doing, preserving these old varieties for future generations.

  2. OMG! What are you going to do with all those???? Our plum has had a very small crop this year - only about 3 pounds (that I can reach to pick) - but that's fine for me - I'm going to make chutney for Christmas gifts. Love the sound of the chestnut orchard - my very favourite autumn treat roasted on my open fire.

  4. HOERA!!!! Mijn nieuwe blog: www.breiselsenhaaksels.blogspot.com
