Small things for the Christmas market

I worked with wool felt and the sewing machine this week . Although weather is too beautiful to sit in my sewingroom to quilt, I wanted to do something..... Working with wool felt is easy and quick, I did not line the cases, only sewed some cute ribbon and velcro; the pencil cases have zippers.
For the birdie wallets I uses the pattern for some decoration birds I made some months ago, i only enlarged the pattern and added some embroidery.
Easy peasy......

Some phone cases.

Pencil cases.

Nantes, the workshops

I did two workshops in Nantes, one with Tina Jockel from the US and the other with Eeva Piesala from Finland.

Tina Jockel is known for her folk art dolls. This is the doll I made, she is une petite danseuse....

The body was already sawn by Tina.  So we started to fill the body, then painted the top of the dress and with a brush sopped in coffee we made her looking old and vintage.

Tina is helping ........

There was a fan to dry them.

We were supposed to give her this face; too folk art for me.......

The other day i did a wet felting workshop. I was the only participant.....
Eeva had made an example and i made the same because we wanted to concentrate on the technique of wet felting. We incorporated buttons and a piece of fabric.

There was some time left, so I prepared a small pillow and we felted it together, we had a lot of fun!

Nantes was: lots of ideas, lots of inspiration and lots of very nice people.

Wet felting

First I want to thank you all for your advices about my tulip problem.
And Jeanneke, Sylvia, Lupineke and Anna, thanks a lot for going to Zeeman for me.

I did some felting and I loved it. So wonderful that you can make fabric from wool fibers.
I made some pouches and bracelets.

If you want to try it, buy some good quality merino wool and find some You Tube videos, easy peasy......

Framed Flowers, Free Applique BOM

Gingini is organizing a free BOM, called Framed Flowers.  It is an applique block that you can embellish with embroidery and pearls.

I used felted wool as a background , mine is a bit larger than the original, 15 x 15 cm. I did not frame the flower for the moment because I have no idea how many I will make and what to do with the them.   I made my flower in the Sue Spargo style using her embroidery stitches book for the embellishments.

Pelargonium Panduriforme and some more marketpictures

Two years ago i bought this pelargonium, the first year there was only one flower;. In winter she was in the small veranda , no flowers. The whole summer she was outside, no flower, but she did well, new branches and a lot of new leaves. And look what happens now. She is in the veranda  again and she has flowers ! Not a lot but such beautiful flowers.....

Isn't she lovely and there are more flowers coming....

I did not show you pictures of the Christmas market of my club, here are some.

Do you see the red mouse I am wearing? The ten i made for the market were sold quickly!!

Twelve craft days of Christmas. On the seventh day.....

On the seventh day i give you some more inspiring pictures.

These are brooches handmade with felt by her. You can buy them in her etsy shop but with a bit of fantasy you could make them yourself they also should be lovely hanging in the Christmas tree.
This one of the other brooches she made.

See you tomorrow and don't forget to visit my friend Ann's blog to see her paper angels.

Some Christmas decorations and a bag

I found the pattern for these cute angels here, it was a great pleasure to embellish them. I started to make three but could not stop after these three, there are still waiting five to finish......Do you like them?

I also made some hearts .

This fabric has been used already for a bag for Sylviane, I still love the fall colors, perfect for this season.
It is a perfect bag to go to the boulangerie (bakershop) to buy a baguette(French bread).

Two weeks ago I was at the wool festival in Felletin, France

I was a bit disappointed because there were a lot of stalls with wool creations: hats, woven scarfs, garments, more hats and bags and jewelry.
And of course a lot of raw wool for spinning or felting. But i knew that there should be a stall with Renaissance Dying yarn . They handdye there yarn with plants, I already bought some online, very soft and beautiful colors.
I admired their yarn, spoke to to the sweet owners and bought a kit of the Bohemian rhapsody scarf/wrap.

I already looked at the scarf on their site but when I touched it and saw the real colors I could not resist. There are 75 colors in the scarf, the yarn is a thin merino wool.
And of corse I started imediately.......

I also bought one of these needle felted birds and the two mice.

Here are some more pictures of the stalls.

A cute idea to craft with children .... Make a colorful garland

This is a n easy and cute craft to do with your children, they will love playing with water and soap and see the wool transforme into small balls. You only need water, soap, wool for felting, glue and some acron caps and some cotton to crochet the garland.
I made this for the Christmas market.
