Indigo, Shibori and some Sashiko

More cute things

May I present you........

May i present you the mice family. When I saw Finnegan on Sandra's blog i was in love and i wanted to make him.
But as usual when i make something i want to make more than one......
So i made a whole family, here they are.

As you can see father has put on his new scarf and is almost leaving for the pub.....

Mother asks him to stay.... why do you always go to the pub on saturday.....

But father is a very macho mouse, he wants to drink something with his mouse friends....
So even on saturday evening mother is alone at home...
The little one does not like his parents arguing again, he also feels alone....

They were, all three, sold at the Christmas market, seperately.
Maybe not too bad, there family life was not happy at all......

Ecoprint scarfs for the Christmas market

The Christmas market is already on the 13th of december. I need to finish some small things and then I am ready. I am really proud of the things I made this year!
Th scarfs that I show you today are printed with eucalyptus leaves and some other leaves.  I made ten in all. They are 2 meter long and 40 cm wide and made with a wool/silk blend that i bought in a small weaving mill near St Etienne.
I already bought several times by telephone, the old weaver does not have a computer. Some weeks ago my friend Lucienne and her husband , we went to visit the weaver, such an extraordinary experience. We made lots of photoos, i'll show them soon.

My craftclub in Sarzay

On the first and the third saturday each month , we meet in the small hall next to the municipal hal. Normally we are 12 woman.
In France almost every village has a festive hall , where take place al the meals that are organized in the village.
Sarzay is a beautiful small village about 20 km from where i live.
Yesterday I gave an applique workshop, this was already the third applique meeting.
There are 8 of the members who join the workshop, the others continue knitting , crocheting and talking......
We are making an owl wallhanging , made by one of my friends.

We worked with freezerpaper and all the small pieces were cut .

Yesterday almost all the pieces were appliqued.

You can find more information about our club here and here.

Back to normal?

IS it possible to go back to normal after the 7th of january?
I was in Paris a week after the murders , the banners and flags were still hanging at the statue on the Place de la Republique. Everywhere were flyers with 'je suis charlie'.
In the metro i was looking at people while thinking : are you Charlie or are you not Charlie.....
I heard on the radio that teachers have l problems to talk to children who said: 8 murders was not necessary but Charb needed to be killed because he insulted Mahomed.....
I think we have to live with these problems.....

I'll show you a logcabin quilt which i made last winter and finished quilting these days.
I used old and new Dutch traditional costume fabric from MarKen, Staphorst, Scheveningen ,Bunschoten, Spakenburg and Zeeland. The quilt is for Thom, he choose the blues and because I also had lots of reds, i used reds with blues to make a nice border.

I quilted a pencil ,  I saw the idea on the blog 'Crayon and Pencil', she wrote:

For the unspeakable and to remember
Let our needles go
Reaction to what happened these last days, against obscurantism of any form
But also for girls to go to school everywhere in the world.....
Let us sew, embroider, quilt a pencil on each work this year.

Another scrappy poststamp quilt and some flowers

I made another scrappy poststamp quilt. I only need to do the binding....... I don't like doing this, but I NEED to finish this quilt before the 24 th of february because it goes to the Netherlands . Maybe a challenge for this week?
The quilt is machinepieced and handquilted with perle cotton .

I have a small veranda against the frontside of my house, there is no heating but when the sun is shining , immediately it is warm inside, even in winter. I showed you before that a pelargonium is blooming. Here is another one.

I have a lot of cuttings growing there. Most of them are pelargoniums but also several salvia's.
I LOVE salvia's, this is the pine-apple variety with those red flowers, when you touch the leaves they have a smell of pine-apple, you can use the leaves as decoration in a dessert.
