Yoko Saito flower bouquet quilt 1....and a crocheted small pouch
Some month ago I bought the latest Yoko Saito book with a lot of beautiful bags and this quilt.
I already made 6 blocks, will show you the pictures tomorrow!
I made a small pouch with two granny squares lined with a piece of liberty fabric. It's a beautiful pouch to give as a present with a small treasure inside.....

Vintage kimono fabric
I bought some vintage kimono fabric from Togei, she lives in Japan. I wanted to use the fabric for my applique work. When it arrived I was a bit disappointed because the fabric was very stiff . I thought I could not use it.
But last week when it was so hot I suddenly had the idea to make a tote from the fabric. Here it is:

When I looked better at the listing Togei made on Etsy I read that the fabric was used for kimono obi's. Then i understood the stiffness. Here you read more about kimono obi's.
I found this beautiful photo of two ladies in kimono's with obi's/sash on the Tokyotimes website.

My life in France..... the flea market
This weekend is was so hot here in France.
On sunday there was the feast of the tomato...too hot to go there. There were at least three brocantes (flea markets) in the neighborhood....too hot to go there.
So i was inside, shutters closed and knitting another beanie for a friend.
Here are some pictures of flea markets I visited this summer
I bought some very old beautiful buttons, I asked Lucie Tales who makes amazing jewelry to make me a ring with this button.......

I knitted 3 beanies for cancer patients in Australie
I will send the beanies next week to Jess in Australie. On her blog you can read her story: her father is a cancer patient and in the hospital he found a box with beanies , scarfs and mittens that the patients could take -for free- to warm themselves up.
The box was often empty and Jess asks the blogcommunity to knit or crochet something for that box!

My life in France
Where I live, every sunday you could visit a lot of brocantes (flee market), concerts.
Last sunday I went to an open air mass. It was the 27th of july and that's Sainte Anne's day in France. They say that she was Jezus' grandmother.
The open-air mass was in front of the Sainte Anne church near by the castle of george Sand.

The folklore group with their old musical instruments and the hunting music group were also present to grace the mass.
