My craftclub in Sarzay

On the first and the third saturday each month , we meet in the small hall next to the municipal hal. Normally we are 12 woman.
In France almost every village has a festive hall , where take place al the meals that are organized in the village.
Sarzay is a beautiful small village about 20 km from where i live.
Yesterday I gave an applique workshop, this was already the third applique meeting.
There are 8 of the members who join the workshop, the others continue knitting , crocheting and talking......
We are making an owl wallhanging , made by one of my friends.

We worked with freezerpaper and all the small pieces were cut .

Yesterday almost all the pieces were appliqued.

You can find more information about our club here and here.

Toilet quilts.....

In the old days people who lived in the countryside had their toilet outside in the garden.
Some of these toilets even had several ‘places’….. and they were used by several families.

For cleaning afterwards, they used old newspaper and other recycled papers. In the Quiltmania, nr 79 was an article about these toilets and especially about  the ‘privy bags’ where those papers were kept.

Between 1820 and about 1920 those bags were used in  the region of Lancaster County.
Some of those bags are beautiful small quilts. I really love them more than our modern toiletpaper holders!

I really love this picture, do you imagine sitting there with your neighbours?

IN my garden is also a toilet , we made it into a hen-house.

Orvieto Italy day 5

Yesterday it was stitching day, no catherdral or museum, only stitching and picknick in the courtyard.

You can see how the backgrounds came to life.

Conny is inspired by all the beautiful leather bags you can buy here.

Sue and she are discussing how to embellish the bags...

Kathy wanted to do something with the Vespa scooters. She started too small.

This is what she did yesterday.

My roofs are coming to life too.

Kim was inspired by adesign on the pottery we saw on tuesday.

Today it is marketday . We are going to shop for the picknick,so we need to talk a bit Italien...

I have been very busy.....

I have been very busy for the Christmas market of my club Sarzay creatif.
I was knitting, patching, crocheting , sewing and decorating.
I'll show you the things I made:
I made some garlands with small fishes, so cute! Here is the pattern.

The pattern of the crochet heart is on Karin's blog. I decorated with baboeska's and beads.

This baby blanket  is made with fabric that I received as a member of a fabric club.  It was not my fabric at all too sweet for me. But I think it's nice for a baby blanket....

I had this piece of fabric for ages, did not know what to do with it. When I heard that the Sarzay creatif club every year with Christmas sends a parcel to the baby ward in the hospital I made a babyblanket for this parcel. I sandwiched the fabric with Hobbs 80/20, bought a nice background and quilting it by machine.  Isn't it cute.....

To be continued.

Baby quilt for the Christmas market

I made this babyquilt for the Christmas market of Sarzay Creatif. I became a member of this club and every year they organize a Christmas market. This year I did not do summermarkets so there are a lot of small things left to sell.
The baby quilt measures 1,25 x 125, rather big for a babyquilt but it could also be used as a playblanket for a toddler.

I also started to crochet a pillow cover for the market, I only need to crochet another 16 granny's!

And of course, I also quilted my poststampquilt.

My cat 'bibiche' also likes the quilt....

So this week I was rather busy!

Annabelle is so cute....

When I saw her on Michelle's blog I immediately was in love with Annabelle!

And I am not the only one. Michelle was asked several times for the different designs. This week she has set up a special blog for the designs  If you are interested in obtaining her Annabelle designs, send her an email that you want to be invited to the special blog....

I think of making a book with Annabelle's adventures, or some small quilts. What do you think?

The pictures are from Michele's blog.

More finished projects

Some months ago my French neighbor asked me if i would make a bag for her mother. She bought one of my bags about two years ago and she wants a new one. I hesitated because I don't want to make any orders for bags, I only want to make bags for ME. But at the end I said :yes, okay I will do it.  Finally this week I finished the bag,  my neighbors mother is very happy with the result.

In oktober last year, when I went to Paris by train, I started this small nine-patch quilt. From time to time I made some squares, when I was in Nantes again some squares, but all those small paper piecing squares stayed for months in a pouch. This week I finished the small quilt.
It's difficult to make a good picture....

I made this pouch with some squares  that I had left .

I started working on Quilt mystery block 3 from Yoko Saito, I love it.....

A bit of this and a bit of that

I started this week to finish some UFO's. The house doll quilt was still waiting to be finished, I quilted the borders and here it is....

I made some more pictures of the  beautiful silk scarf that i made for Bette. I surely will make more scarfs, I ordered silk in blue, earth colors, blue/green and yellow/green.

And some gardenpictures. Two pillars with a lot of  clematisflowers...

The old French rose Ferdinand Pichard (1921)  is so gorgeous this year....

Happy crafting! More finished UFO's later this week!

I am working on too many projects.....

There are too many Ufo's laying around in my sewing room, I don't like that, it's not good for my concentration!
This nine-patck doll quilt i started half a year ago . I'll use  Denise Schmidt fabric and Kona solid.

Last week I started this small quilt. I bought the kit on Etsy. The mother of the person who sold the kit was in the nineteenth on a trip in Amsterdam and she bought the kit at den Haan en Wagemakers , they are well known for their Dutch reproduction fabrics.

And there is waiting this Japanese logcabin quilt. I already started quilting.

Over a chair is hanging my reproduction poststampquilt but I think this one has to wait till cooler weather.

I started a new appliquequilt, a Yoko Saito pattern, I finished three blocks, will show my creations soon. I saw the finished quilt in Nantes, beautiful, my fabric choice is more vibrant, I use alot of vintage kimono fabric. This is the finished quilt in Nantes.

And there is block 3 of the Yoko Saito mystery quilt waiting for me. But first I need to buy the background. Thursday I go to Holland for a weekend and I'll buy the background in Rotterdam.
I go with my friend Lucy in her car. Do you remember who she is? She is the one who makes excellent  chocolates. At the moment she is experimenting with cake decoration.....

Th crown on top is made with chocolate...
INside was cream with amaretto , an Italien almond liqueur.
